KING COUNTY TRAFFIC CRASH RESEARCH / 2026-10-20
CloudRaven Labs / TrendSights research approach

Local descriptive research prepared with Codex and human review. This is not a hosted TrendSights research run or automatic product output.

WSDOT crash events: 2020-2024; increase focus: 2021-2023. Severe means fatal or suspected serious maximum injury PER CRASH, not injured people. The primary temporal comparison retains WSDOT source city and road labels.
ACS: 2020-2024 five-year estimates with 90% MOEs, annotations, and missing values. LODES: 2023 JT01 primary jobs, joined using the official 2024 block-parent crosswalk. Maps: verified 2024 tract geography. Whole-tract resident context does not identify crash participants.

All 57,785 three-city events and 1,654 severe events were retained after the tract/context join. The three-city 2021-2023 severe City Street grid has 751 events. These are different cohorts.

LODES links are job relationships, not measured daily commuting, through traffic, daytime population, or road-user exposure. Highway AADT is dated section volume, not unique travelers; repeated sections are a sample. Modeled solar phase follows NOAA approximate equations and retains time ambiguity and threshold sensitivity. Observed Seattle lighting is separate.

No cause, statistical significance, forecast, exposure-adjusted risk, or patrol effectiveness is established. Public tables omit raw report identifiers and individual crash points. Federal source data and TOP participation do not imply Census or other agency endorsement.

public-data.zip contains the selected public aggregate derivatives, source contracts, receipts, and this README. It does not include raw source snapshots or a complete executable research environment. The four PDFs and vector figures are separate downloads. methods-and-artifacts.json maps the reviewed workflow to available artifacts. web-manifest.json records source and web-copy SHA-256 hashes. Source research verification is distinct from website verification.
